I have just received my Cyma CMO48M AKM. Being in the US it has the plastic orange flash hider. I cannot get the flash hider release pin to move at all to remove the flash hider. I know that now they use glue on the threads of the flash hider and I have taken others off using the hair dryer method without a problem. The Cyma manual states that the pin can be depressed to remove the hider but I think these pins are force pressed in and have no spring. Both my Dboys AKs pins move without problems. Any thoughts appreciated.

Try using pliers to pull it off.

Comrade, try spraying some WD-40 into the plunger area. The plunger on one of my Dboys got stuck and this resolved the problem.

Unfortunately I have the same problem with my VFC! The little release has no play at all and seems like it has been glued in place! Angry

I have tried heating, soaking with WD40 & Nail polish remover and pushing down on it with a wrapped screwdriver blade as hard as I could, there is just no give or play. Think it was just pressed in until it could go no further by Cyma. With this not able to move you cannot put a new hider on as the new hider would stop at the end of the pin and it would look ridiculous. Probably another trick to make you keep the orange plastic hider on. Looks like I will just have to paint over the orange with flat black paint. Shame too as I just got a new Cyma metal AKM hider to replace the plastic one. Roll Eyes

Using a blow dryer on high has always worked for me. Are you twisting it the right way?

Yes comrade, CCW is to tighten. On AK74 & AKM you need to depress the small pin on the front sight housing flush to the base of the housing to either remove or install the flash hider. This is the problem, the pin cannot be depressed. Funny that the pins on my VFC & Dboys function as they should so there is no problem on them to install or take off my flash hiders.

I used a wire cutter to take off my orange flash hider. Literally cut it in half and threw it away. For the release pin, I pulled it off with needle nose pliers. It came out easily enough.

The Echo 1 rebranded CM048M I got had the pin literally molded as a part of the FSB! I had to dremel it off to put on a new flash hider.

I did manage to get the pin to move, now it is flush in the base and will not come out. If a real steel front sight base will work there is a place that sells unused East German AKM front sight housings complete with all pins. If the reel steel/airsoft specs are the same it would be an easy swap and I would go that route.

it's possible that the pin that holds the front sight block and the pin/spring has caught on the on the pin. I had this issue when I was installing my my muzzle break pin, it rotated just enough to get caught when I pressed the FSB pin in place which kept the pin from being depressed.

Pretty simple fix if you have the tools, just need to push out the pin closest to the muzzle on the front sight base and that will release the spring and pin for the muzzle. Getting installed back is a bit tricky, you need to insert the spring and pin with the groove side facing down and depress the pin while pressing the front sight base pin back in place. I can take pictures if need be. Of course this is on a actual AKM and I'm not sure how similar the real thing is to the airsoft version.

Comrade, I have a lot of that happened to me, usually, I use a heat gun (15  sec will do, the plastic should be hot to the touch) to heat up the flash hider. push the retainer pin back, cyma pins are cheap so you will have to leave 2 to 3mm of the pin out so you pull it back after the new flay hider is install.  I almost always break the cheap plastic flash hider.  If your pin us stuck, there is no real way to get it out, I uses blue lock tight solution to hold the flash hider in place.  The flas hider won't even budge.

Same on dboy AK. Pin is glued. Suggest removing grub screw and punch it forward. Did not mar the gun.

The orange tips coming in are become more resilient to remove most likely because the retailers or manufacturer esponding to even more stringent Customs.

Your best bet is to use the heat gun as Geostormz recommends. A hair dryer is too weak for the stronger glues.

my cyma 048 just arrived today and the pin on it is glued as well. You can actually see where to glue ran. I wonder if some good paint thinner or something would bring it off. I don't have a heat gun but I do have a torch  whipped

I could see the torch be super effective on the plastic tip. Tongue
