i would imagine that it could be used (longer barrel) it seems the FSA is using them , so it would be more or less an op-for thing

Reality wise: The RPK-74's longer barrel isn't really a huge contribution to long range consistency or performance, since its total lack of freedom totally trashes barrel harmonics.  Furthermore, a giant-ass bolt group slamming back and forth is not conducive to eye-socket-blasting accuracy.  Even furthermore, issued 5.45x39mm (RPK-74) and 7.62x39mm (RPK) ammunition lots are not consistent enough in loading or terminal performance for application in a marksman's rifle, and are hell and gone from being a sniper round.  This is a large reason why the SVD/SVU/SVD-S have persisted as the loose equivalent of a DMR in the Russian armed forces.

In airsoft: The long barrel of an RPK is not a requirement for accuracy, and is, in fact, a DETRIMENT to consistency.  Precision machining >>>>>>>>>> length.  An extremely precise and extremely strong inner barrel of non-tightbore diameter is what one truly wants.  Han (adaqdgg) might come across as a bit of an airsoft evangelist at times, but the dude knows his shit, and he'll probably declare an anime-fueled fatwa on somebody who buys a tightbore barrel in this day and age.

Something to do with pistons needing to be precision matched to barrel length and diameter too... It makes sense though, a long barrel having slight imperfections, it seems like it would throw bb's around like a pinball machine, getting more off course with each bend or inconsistency. But right now I'm using an SRC m4 that shoots about... 80 ft? Yeah I found out I'm gonna working almost hours a week all summer so I getta buy whatever AEG tickles my fancy  Grin

Iraq tried it with the Tabuk, not sure with how much success though.

the rpk's bipod would cause barrelflex either when eployed or not. It would NOT be a sniper rifle in any stretc of the word. It's meant for medium range suppression via indirect volly fire.

Now that's for the real one. since you don't really go for any realism in your "kits", sure. Get a prometheus or pdi barrel, rhop, good full seal cylinder and such and enjoy.
