Anyone know where I can find a replacement butt plate for one of these?

Do the buttstock take screws?

Yes, they do. I ordered one from Evike that was supposed to fit, but did not. The plate itself was too narrow for the stock.

That's absurd...

I am assuming you purchased the ak74 ribbed stock plate? http://www.evike.com/product_info.php?products_id=35082

Looking @ Airsoft Extreme's website... this is how CA AK butt plate looks like...
http://www.airsoftextreme.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=407_433_582&products_id=914

Which looks very much like this one on Evike.

Yup, that's the one I ordered. The stock on the CA is too wide for that buttplate. I've been looking around for other options, but so far nothing has come up.

Wait, so you ordered the ribbed one and not the smooth one?

Do you have any pictures btw of your stock side profile and one facing the butt plate side?

Correct, I ordered the ribbed one. I'll put some pictures up shortly.

The stock

The buttplate fits one one side...

But not the other...

The screws are also too big for the holes in the stock.

The buttplate and the area it goes on seem to be exactly the same size. It's not large enough to actually fit on to the stock itself. After playing with it for a while, the only way I could think of to get it to fit would be to dremel down the part of the stock where the plate would go. However, since the screws don't fit either, there would no way to secure it to the actual stock.

Additionally, I think the smooth one probably won't fit due to the screw placement and the fact that its a snap-in instead of screw-on buttplate.

Just slap on a recoil pad and call it a day.

I got an LCT stock in front of me. If this helps in figuring out whether an LCT stock butt plate would possibly fit, here are the dimensions.

The butt plate is at it's widest of 34.25mm on the outside and widest of 34.2mm on the inside. It's about 99.4mm in length on the outside and 97.1mm in length on the inside.

From the edge of the butt plate to the edge of the screw, the distance is 5.5mm. From the edge of the butt plate to the middle of the screw is 8mm.

The screws on the LCT stock are 4mm screws. (3.9mm)

If you have calipher or ruler laying around, you could check to see if the LCT stock butt plate dimensions match up to your CA stock. From there, we can center it down to either LCT or VFC/Dboys stock butt plates, whatever is available more or less.

First off, hanks so much for your help on this.

I took some measurements. Lacking the CA buttplate, I measured off the buttplate mount on the stock:
Widest point:
31.5mm outside
28mm inside

Width just below top screw:
27mm outside
24mm inside

Width just above bottom screw:
23mm outside
20mm inside

Distance from top screw to top:
6.5mm

Distance from bottom screw to bottom:
5mm

The holes look like they would fit 2mm-2.5mm screws

From the replacement buttplate from Evike (made by APS Airgun):
Widest point:
33mm outside
31.5mm inside

Width just below top screw:
24mm outside
22mm inside

Width above bottom screw:
25mm outside
23mm inside

From screw to top of buttplate:
5mm

From screw to bottom of buttplate:
5mm

The screws it came with are 3mm screws.

While it comes close to fitting in some areas, overall the APS buttplate has a distinctly different shape than the CA buttplate, with the CA one being much more rounded.

No problem. I've been building a few AK's and finding missing parts have been quite tedious... so I feel your pain. Tongue

For your stock dimensions, the LCT/Guarder AKM butt plate should fit your Classic Army stock since the butt plate on the LCT/Guarder kits are even a little wider than where it meets the stock itself. Also, the screw dimensions you gave me do line up perfectly with the LCT AKM stock. For the screws, I don't have an AK here that uses a size less than 4mm (actual 3.9mm) screws. However, a trip to your hardware stock, with just your stock, to test out what screws go in, should do the job.

I suggest, you may want to find a new stock set, or possibly go with the earlier suggestions from one of the members to use a recoil/rubber ak butt pad. Even if you attain the right screws, I haven't seen another place that sells the LCT or Guarder butt plate by itself.

You could take a risk and purchase a real AKM butt plate but if that doesn't work, you could have ended up buying a new stock set instead.

Awesome, again thanks so much for your help. I found a pretty good deal on an ICS stock set, so I may give that a try.

Ended up getting a replacement CYMA stock. The stock is not compatible with CA receivers (had some bizarre screw system I've never seen before), but the buttplate itself was. Combined with some 3x12mm screws from the hardware store, my AK has a working buttplate again. Hopefully others can use this if they have the same problem.
