Svoboda i Slava

« on: July 23, 2012, 01:23:01 PM »

On Wednesday, July 4th, I placed an order for a Sposn Smersh set from Dmitri at Soviet-Propaganda.  Everything went fine with the order, and on July 17th I received two tracking numbers to track my order via Russian Post.  The order tracked fine until the 22nd, when one of the tracking numbers, representing the heavier of the two items, gave me the order status of "Возврат" with the Characteristic of Operation "Иные обстоятельства".

Can anyone tell me what these mean and what to do about them?  I have never received these statuses before, and I have ordered from Dmitri without trouble before as well.  I am not sure whether to be concerned about this.  Spasibo.

The first one is "return" and the other is "other circumstances", according to google translate. Sounds ominous :/

Alright.  I need to know if anyone has dealt with this problem before then?  And why this may be happening?  Undecided This order was simply a Smersh rig and I'm sure Dmitri has shipped hundreds of them without problem.  I've already attempted to contact Dmitri, but received a message from my email provider claiming to have delayed the message.  Much bad luck.

I also have a problem it seems. After reading your post I checked the tracking on my order (shipped July 17th) on Russian Post site and it says "Back 22 July 2012 12:28 190977 St. Petersburg-Pulkovo MMPO PI-2 Other circumstances." I've gotten this status before but that was with the whole Tacgear/helmetreplicas.net customs fiasco. So our orders for one reason or another where returned to Dmitry.

All I ordered was a SMERSH harness. I'll also send him a mail.

Edit:

I see your order also shipped July 17th and got the issue with tracking on the 22nd. And we're both in the States.

That's incredibly odd that our orders are identical essentially.  Maybe it confused Russian Post?  Inform me of any information you can get, comrade.  Hopefully this can be sorted out soon.

Several options to mark the return reason of the package as "other":
-the customs declaration that comes with the package was lost
-the customs declaration that comes with the package was filled incorrect
-the customs declaration that comes with the package was half/completely damaged so it is impossible to read it
-the address was damaged/not clear/was absent at all

bad mood of the customs worker Smiley

Based on what you said, Comrade Militario, this should be something that Dmitri can easily fix once the items are returned to him?  It's just a messed up shipping declaration?

I just offered these variants as I already had a case like this.

"Other" means that there are reasons to return the parcel, but they are not listed in the main list of reasons.

As a rule they attach 8*10 cm sticky red/black/white label to the package, there are 6-8 reasons of returning and the last one is "other".

I do not remember the other main reasons of returning (but I'm sure they should be forbidden items and etc ...), but other means some technical problems.

Oh yea, may be the package was damaged during the transportation from post dept to customs/sort facility and they did not allow it to pass in such damaged condition.

Anyway the sender can find all the information. But I'm afraid nobody from the PochtaRossii will compensate the shipping costs :\

If it is a goal of the sender, it will be good if he/she/it will cover the shipping costs, but if not ... there is a chance that you will have to pay again the shipping costs.

But do not worry, may be everything is more simple  wink

I'll let you know as soon as I get a reply.

In my experience, Dmitry will never charge us again to cover shipping costs. This goes for items lost in the mail and likely situations such as this. It shouldn't be much of a problem aside from the delay during re-shipment. As Militario said, its probably the cause of a disgruntled Russian customs worker haha.

Bad news on my side too. I just got the automated email that says "Delivery Status Notification (Delay)." Well crap...

Looks like there are some problems on Dmitry's side as well.

Edit:

I just sent him a PM. He logs on daily so we should get a reply soon. If that doesn't work he has a Yahoo mail address too.

Dmitry replied on the 25th and said there was a problem at Customs and that he would get back to me after he's contacted them.

Thing is simple, some people at customs want $$$ to close eyes for mailing big amount of parcels (bribe for nothing).

I never support bribing (otherwise I'd be selling & shipping helmets / armor in hundreds) so we're having small battle as they can't legally forbid me to mail them to "my friends as gifts" and it will just result in me filing big complaint (if it happens again) to head of postal customs.

I've got all parcels that were returned and will be remailing them during this week and sending out new tracking #'s

Thanks all for patience and understanding!
