The site has not been updated in two years.
With the death of GSC I believe this project is dead too.

Hard to say. Survivarium is the next game that the old S.T.A.L.K.E.R. team is developing, they didn't die out so to speak, just had to reform themselves into something new after the financial crisis in developing the 2nd game caused the initial collapse.

Survivarium looks like its deffinatly going to happen. As Taurus was saying, the some people form old GSC formed into a new studio, Union Studio, Which have started developing this. It looks really good and instead of just Chernobyl being a natural disaster wasteland, its the whole world. I will defiantly buy it when it comes out.

wow I didn't know GSC went under,  glad to hear they are reforming. I've been hooked on stalker since I first played it. Never replayed a game that would still creep me out like stalker did

really hope they can finish that series and of course future stalker games would be awesome too.

That really sucks! I'll just have to settle for playing the first 3 over and over.

least there is Metro 2033 and last light, while I enjoyed stalker more I did like 2033 alot.  Thanks for the sad news anyway tho.

I'm looking forward to two more STALKER books that should be releasing in the next year.

My stalker games somehow all got corrupted and i think about wandering the zone, all the time, i need to get them fixed, the stalker theme always plays in my head and its a shame the game got canceled, it was a really great game and truly original unlike cod and all these other games nowadays..

I too love STALKER and the zone, I can't count the times I've replayed the games. You might already be familiar with this but if not you should check this movie out, it was inspired by a book called "Road Side Picnic" which in turn inspired the movie "STALKER" which inspired the game.  Did I make sense there? anyways the movie is called STALKER, it's dated 1979 so it's a older film but being a fan of the game it held my attention easily.

Yeah I've heard of the book it explains the anomalies and such which add to the game and make it difficult to explain to non stalker fans

just saw this on STALKERS facebook page today, sounds promising. Although I'm sure it'll never be the same.

Jesus... I hope they don't make it like they've made Oblivion and Fallout 3. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was it's own game and for good reasons, the last thing I want to see happen to it is 'adapted,' to fit the developers' preference like what Gearbox did to Duke Nukem (Partly in fault to 3D Realms too, yes).

that is my fear too, fallout while I enjoyed it doesn't hold a candle to stalker. My hope is that the original dev team would still build it but just be funded by Bethesda. I know I have high hopes lol one can dream can't they haha.

I agree with y'all, I hope they use a different engine. I cannot do without gun customization Sad. Although i think the physic engine for fallout is a welcome addition. I hope they don't mess with the gameplay mechanic itself.

Awww... Bethesda is pretty much my favorite game developer ever (sorry Bioware!). A STALKER game by the fine folks who brought us Morrowind, Skyrim, and Fallout: New Vegas would be amazing! And their team WOULD endeavor to get it right- FO: NV has some of the most realistic firearms mechanics I have seen in an RPG game (on console at least).

These guys are building STALKER SoC up from the ashes to resemble the earlier 1935 build in terms of scope. It looks amazing, and should have an alpha release in a month or two.

I am extremely happy and am also puzzeled why bethesda would make stalker, they always seem to take forever to make games but they are always really fun i just can't picture who knows though, i sounding pretty biased because i love fallout 3 and new vegas.

So is that a mod or a complete game? looks very interesting.

when I actually stop and think about Fallout and Elder Scrolls, especially Fallout the style is not all that different from stalker with the exception of stalkers atmosphere and eerily realistic attention to detail of the zone. That would be part I would worry about Bethesda messing up, the stalker team was so close to the actual zone they where able to basically recreate it from pictures they've taken. I don't know if Bethesda would bother traveling there and doing their own recreations. But tis all speculation at this point.
