Keep finger off bayo until ready to stab sumthin!

« on: August 21, 2012, 08:50:13 PM »

Title says all.

If you read my intro you will see I'm gassing for a new replica sidearm.  I really want the Mak from KWA but it seems its still vaporware right now.  Everyone says incoming or on order etc..........  I've yet to find one in stock somewhere.

I've found the Tok already though, hell even a local shop has one but its priced too much.  I got to handle it though and it is nice. Since I sold my real steel one quite a while back I've always wanted one again.  I'd be happy with a replica one right now to quench that thirst plus I need a fieldable sidearm badly but really want the Mak as I've got several holsters sitting here waiting to be populated.

Anyone know what the deal is on the KWA Maks?

I still might just get the Tok because the replica is honestly as fugly as the original and yet somehow feels like thats not a bad thing actually.   yelrotflmao

YMMV as usual.

I have several real Mak holsters already.  I don't have a Tok holster at the moment.  I know they are easy to source if you are a right hander but being a lefty going to be a challenge.  I''m going on a limb here that maybe a left handed 1911 application holster might fill the bill.  The two are similar in footprint.  I don't need anything highspeed right now, just something that will provide adequate retention so I don't loose the replica fielding it.  A nylon Uncle mikes type basic left handed 1911 holster is probably my best shot for a quick and dirty solution assuming it fits right? At least that is my current thought process unless someone is aware of a lefty friendly Tok specific holster they can point me towards.

If you don't particularly care about the holster, mainly about having the side arm somewhere on your rig, you could always put it in a spare AK pouch on your rig. I do that with my KWA USP45 (yes I know, capitalist nemetski pistol, it was a good deal) when using my 6SH104.

This x1000.  We need a full auto pistol that isn't an M93r or a Glock 18 or wierd bizarro-glocks that don't have real full auto counterparts.

I've asked the release date for the Makarov (and te AK GBB) on KWA's Facebook, but for their answer it seems to still be vaporware:

Kwa Allen: "No news on the MKV. AKG will be out sometime between Q3 and Q4."
Me: "Thanks Allen. I'll be looking forward to get that AK! Too bad on the MKV, I'm pretty sure all of my team (and almost all the "russian" teams) are really waiting for it to come out."
Kwa Allen "One at a time, we still have a few more guns to release this year before we can get to the MKV."

It looks to me that it won't be out this year Sad

As would I too.  Also a decent gbb scorpion thats skirmishable wouldn't be a bad alternative in a replicated form of a 9x18 lead slinging machine either. Cheesy

If you don't particularly care about the holster, mainly about having the side arm somewhere on your rig, you could always put it in a spare AK pouch on your rig. I do that with my KWA USP45 (yes I know, capitalist nemetski pistol, it was a good deal) when using my 6SH104.

I suppose that would work but unless I'm running one of my "Western" molle rig setups very limited room for mags as it is with a chicom type AK chest rig which I tend to use more frequently these days.  When its super hot (Texas summers) I tend to favor those more than a full on plate carrier.

Plus it fits into to the AK replica theme better which is also been my favored replicas these days.

Thus the need for a decent but cheap holster.  I guess I can just try a universal holster that is 1911 friendly and see how it works out.  I decided to get the Tokarev pistol for sure.  Bummed about the Mak being nowhere in sight but what can you do.  I need a skirmishable side arm for the appropiate situations.

Hmmm....... maybe thats not a bad approach.

Typing in "having a tokarev holster made from Kydex" in google brought up a few very interesting topics in real steel forums and this place was a suggestion in one of them.

http://www.strikehardgear.com/cz-and-makarov-holsters/

Interestingly they have CZ82 holsters as well.  I have a real mak and 82 so I might wind up buying one of each as I intend to get the KWA Tok and Mak plus another real Tok too eventually.  I don't see myself finding anyone else making something similar for much less and these got a great review from the guy on the forum I found this on.

Bought the locally available KWA tok today.

Really excited.  I posted pics in the guns thread. I think it will make a great addition to my meager arsenal here.  I'm most likely going to see about having a kydex holster made in lefthand from that website I linked to.  Thanks again DRK for that suggestion.

Been shooting soda cans all afternoon breaking it in.  Now I have to vaccum all these bbs up haha LOL.

Can't wait to go skirmish this thing and get it properly debuted.

I forgot how wrong this pistol design feels in the hand.  Everything about it just seems wrong and yet so cool at the same time.  Just like the real ones.

Also, just holding this makes me want to turn on one of my boys already.  Fortunately with this guy I can shoot them with no harm done but I feel compelled to yell "Your relieved!" and just randomly pop one of them next skirmish. Or in my best Russian accent yell "no mercy for cowards, no step backward!".  If they fall back on me during a firefight I might just for giggles pull it and do it haha.

Anyhow, thanks for the read.

Now hurry up with that mak KWA!

This nice no marred black finish is bugging me.  Also the orange extended muzzle too.  Really tempted to say screw the 45 day warranty and dremel the extended muzzle end off.  Not only does that remove the orange but the muzzle would be flush with the barrel bushing like the real ones.  Also considering painting the outer barrel with silver spray paint. That would really make this look more authentic.

I wonder if I disassembled the pistol and removed as much of the black factory paint as I could replacing it with a cold blue solution how it might turn out.  Really tempted to give it a shot and it wouldn't have to be a perfect job.  In fact imperfections might give it that been there done that look.  Right now its just too pristine looking that it isn't believable for a handgun thats stamped with a fake year of 1941 on the slide. Cheesy

Should I attempt a relic job on this thing?  I kind of want to.

I just couldn't stand the fugly orange extended muzzle any longer.  Decided to say screw the 45 day warranty and took care of it.  Pics in the pic thread.

Still not sure I want to commit to the relic job on the replica.

It would make sense for a x mas release for any new airsoft guns. Because right after x mas is a event called shot show in Las Vegas where all the new guns are modeled.
