Practical shooting is funner than you think :)

« on: June 05, 2008, 05:45:49 PM »

The event was held on a Humala former soviet base on Saturday 31.05.2008. The game it self began at 12.00 and finished at 18.00 (and then bagan the Afterparty Cheers).
The weather was really hot and sunny (unfortunatelly for Stalker), it would be much better if it was cloudy and dull for the atmosphere.
There was a total of 133 players, which is a record for our country. Some teams came from Latvia and Lithuania.

There were 6 factions: free stalkers, duty, freedom, monolith, mercs and NPC's. Me and my team joined freedom faction.

The game it self was new for us, because you could choose who to be friends with, shoot or search artefacts or complete quests. Some people didn't make a single shot.
The bullets were counted and every player had 300 in the beginig. You could have gained bullets either in stashes or by completing NPC's quests.

We had our ow town, where you could relax\get a quest\buy elexires\hire mercs\etc. We even had our own controller. At first you think that its just another NPC, so you ask him if he has any quests, he replies that he does, that he starts talking. After a certain period of time he stops and says that now you are a zombie, so you have to obay his commands. We even had snorks. Poor fellas had to wear winter clothes not to feel the shots. You had to shoot a plate on snorks belly in order to kill it, but it was kinda tricky.

Well since we have only 5-6% of the whole buch of photoes right now, I will post  more in a time.
Heres the firs bunch.

2 jcareaga: Huh? our team uses flektarn so it was logical that we joined freedom. Next time I'll join free stalkers, that way I'll have less pre-determined enemies.

2 Odin: Well yeah 6 hours is defenately not enough for a game like this (though we had a really long aferparty =) ), but we have in plans to make next game 24-36 hours and with approx 500 people.

2 $trelok : Mostly those were triggers with electirc circuit and a sireene, if you stepped on smth and heared the sound - your dead.

I am very envious comrades. I wish that we had such a scenario (even a place to do that kind of scenario) in America! But, unfortunately there is not a big group of people willing to do that.

Serega, I'd love to know more about the missions and game play.

As far as having a place to do this kind of game in the US, I know of a place that'd be great for this, buts in the center of PA, so it'd be a long ass haul for you ShadowDagger. Its in the woods, but its an abandoned cement factory with a couple of buildings around, graffiti and such. I'll contact my guy in PA who organizes games. I'm have a feeling he'll be game. He has organized Resident Evil type games before, so this might be right up his alley.

Want to get a STALKER impression and I have some ideas but a lack of funds to carry it off at the mo.

Excellent! I got an organizer who is very interested. But, just like me, he doesn't play this game on PC. So all help is appreciated.

Svyaschennaya_Vityaz yup, there were 5-7 snorks in the game, we had to penetrate a little plate on its belly to kill it, but that was pretty tricky  Smiley
They usually attacked in pairs (and 2 of them were hiding in the bunkers, so they killed 6 people there, it was almoust impossible to hit the snorks in their weak spot or run away from them in the CQB), they liked to come to our base, so we had loads of fun killing them and also zombies with controller came by quite often.

Hey!!! I have few ideas how to imitate bloodsuckers....

People which will play as those mutants will wear ghillie suits (as they will add them some "invisibility") and some freaky mask.
They should stalk their prey at night or in buildings+ cat eyes, but back to front, so the light spots will imitate bloodsuckers eyes in the night  Grin
---------------
It should be improved
--------------
Sorry for the necro but it may be usefull for STALKER fans

Russians do it hardcore-er

Points of interest:
- Said the events have grown from over 100 players to over 300 players
- Large scale LARPing by players and supporting characters
- Special rules about accessing items that appear in anomalies, and items are tradable
- Scattered artifacts
- Active centers
